As part of its sustainable development strategy, Bucim Mine on August 16, 2025, organized a herbal-creative workshop for the children of its employees, aged 5 to 10. The event took place at the Borov Dol open pit premises and involved 12 registered children who, through play and creative activities, had the opportunity to explore the connection between nature, art, and tradition.
Through an interactive approach, the young participants learned about herbs such as mint, lemon balm, rosemary, oregano, and sage – discovering their uses, creating drawings and frames with dried herbs, planting their own seedlings, and tasting products prepared with herbs. At the end, each child received a diploma as encouragement for their curiosity and creativity.
The workshop was given special significance through cooperation with the social enterprise Bilkilife – Center for Herbalism, Tourism, and Sustainable Development. Part of the funds generated from this activity will be directed by Bilkilife towards improving the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities, thereby complementing the educational component of the workshop with a socially significant dimension.
“Our goal is for mining to contribute to the community in a broader sense – by creating opportunities for education, culture, and support, while sending a clear message that social responsibility and long-term sustainable development are the mirror in which economic growth finds its true value,” emphasized Kristina Krsteva, Deputy Manager for Sustainable Development at Bucim and Borov Dol.
The company once again reaffirmed its commitment to being more than a mining complex – a partner to employees, a promoter of educational and cultural initiatives, and a driver of positive change within the community.
