Bucim Supports Environmental Education: Successful Implementation of Waste Management and Selection Project in Radovish and Konche

As part of its ESG strategy and commitment to sustainable development, the Bucim mine supported the project “Proper Waste Management and Selection – Path to a Cleaner Development and Application of 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle).”The project focused on educating the youngest generations about the importance of responsible waste handling and environmental protection.

Between September 2024 and February 2025, the project was successfully implemented in eight educational institutions – preschools and primary schools in the municipalities of Radovish and Konche. The educational activities were tailored to the children’s ages and included creative and interactive presentations, educational brochures and flyers, as well as discussions on the topic of primary waste selection and the importance of a clean environment.

The project yielded encouraging results: over 600 children of preschool and primary school age were directly educated, and teachers and principals actively participated, providing significant support in implementing the program. Through such activities, the development of awareness about the importance of waste selection from an early age was encouraged, creating healthy and sustainable habits among children. Additionally, the sense of responsibility and care for the shared environment was strengthened, contributing to the long-term application of recycling principles and sustainable living.

“As a company that works with natural resources, we are aware of our responsibility and role in building a sustainable future. Supporting such initiatives is part of our long-term commitment to environmental protection and raising awareness among future generations,” said Alexander Rakov, Manager of the Bucim and Borov Dol mines.

This project is part of Buchim’s broader corporate social responsibility activities and represents a concrete contribution to strengthening environmental education, promoting inclusivity, and supporting the development of the local community.
