Estonian delegation visits Borov Dol: Focus on sustainable mining

On November 6, 2024, the Borov Dol copper mine hosted a delegation from the Republic of Estonia as part of a knowledge and experience exchange program in the field of mining. The delegation included representatives from the Ministry of Climate, the Department of Mineral Resources, and the Geological Survey of Estonia, as well as representatives from the Geological Survey of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Ministry of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources.

The visit focused on familiarizing the delegation with Macedonian practices for mineral resource exploitation, the technical standards, and the regulatory frameworks implemented by Borov Dol mine.

“For us, this visit represents a significant step in strengthening international cooperation and promoting our mining practices. The Estonian guests showed great interest in the technological and environmental aspects of our mine, which further confirms that Borov Dol is one of the leading mines in the region,” said Ivica Karapetrov, Deputy Manager of Bucim and Borov Dol mines.

The visit concluded with a productive discussion on future collaboration opportunities, with a particular emphasis on developing sustainable mining practices and implementing innovative technologies.
