Human Rights as an Integral Part of Responsible Governance at Bucim

Through its revised Human Rights Policy, Bucim establishes a framework for protecting people, managing risks and supporting responsible decision-making.

Bucim has published its revised Human Rights Policy, further defining the company’s approach to matters that may affect employees, contractors, business partners and local communities.

In the mining industry, business decisions are directly linked to working conditions, health and safety, labour rights, contractor management and impacts on communities. Respect for human rights is therefore an important element of managing operational, social and reputational risks, as well as building long-term trust with stakeholders.

The Policy sets out principles relating to human dignity, equal treatment, non-discrimination, a safe and respectful working environment, and protection from harassment and retaliation. It also defines expectations for business partners and provides for concerns to be raised through accessible channels and reviewed impartially.

“Responsible mining requires clear principles, openness towards stakeholders and the readiness to act promptly where risks to people may arise. Through the revised Human Rights Policy, we are strengthening the framework that guides our decisions, business relationships and accountability across all levels of the organisation,” said Alexander Rakov, General Manager of Bucim.

For Bucim, the Policy forms part of its corporate governance system, through which impacts on people and communities are considered in the planning and implementation of business activities. Its application supports consistent conduct, clear responsibilities and greater accountability in relationships with all stakeholders.
